Mission:
To provide information regarding
education, response, recovery and resources before and after
disaster events to individuals with developmental
disabilities and their families.
2011 - 2012 Priorities:
- Obtain written policy
from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD)
regarding APD licensed homes that suspends capacity
requirements of group homes during/after disasters.
- Research emergency
payment systems.
- Continue to recruit
developmental disabilities sensitive professionals for the
Medical Reserve Corp. (behaviorists, respite providers,
etc.).
- Update the Emergency
Resource Guide of community agencies annually or as
needed.
- Create a Spanish and
visually impaired Emergency Resource Guide.
- Continue to educate and
inform persons with developmental disabilities and their
families on disaster preparedness and having a family
emergency plan.
- Continue to collaborate
with other strike teams to identify common issues.
