Sarasota COAD
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Strike Team

Mission:

To provide behavioral health response and recovery activities after disaster events, to ensure community access to critical incident stress management information, and to target crisis intervention services to individuals and groups directly or indirectly impacted per requests from Health and Human Services Operations Center and the public.

2011 - 2012 Priorities:

  • Continue to update resource list to ensure most up to date information on mental health and substance abuse providers.
  • Compile and utilize literature that can be helpful for responders in times of trauma.
  • Interface with the Medical Reserve Corps.
  • Provide education on topics which are related to mental health, substance abuse and disasters.
  • Engage new members for the strike team.
